Connect With Me On Social Media & Yummly!

Hi all! Whether you're new to my blog or not, I'd like to direct you to my About page to learn a little more about me, and also to give you the low-down on what BrooksBasics is about here:

I created BB to provide a simple, clean space to share recipes and promote science-backed advice on healthy living and nutrition. Most health claims today are simply false, or lacking in true, verified evidence. There's a lot of research out there about nutrition, fitness, & food, but actually a lot of it is either feeble or contradicted by other research, leaving a jumbled mess behind for readers to sort through. If you don't come from a scientific background, or just don't want to spend the headspace trying to decipher what means what (ie., me half the time), then this site is for you. I want to give you the low down on common health claims, as well as offer resources and advice (but don't just 100% trust me, I'm still a medical student!). I will never claim to be an expert, even when I get my MD. I'm a learner, and I will be a learner for my entire life! And I want to share that journey with you, and invite you along with me!

So if you're looking for 1.) food 2.) really good food 3.) the truth on health claims, or 4.) a non-judgmental space to learn, you're in the right place. I don't promote any specific diet, I merely encourage people to get in as many veggies as you can, and to eat a colorful, plantbased diet! Veggies for the win! Feel free to add meat or dairy or whatever you prefer to my recipes, I won't get offended!

If you're wondering why I designed my site like this, I wanted to design a space that, like I said before, was simple and clean. Many food blogs bombard you with a thousand pictures of the same recipes, and paragraphs of rambling text, but I wanted to give you just the basics of what you need for each post. This post will hopefully be my most rambling one ever! If you're looking to get more insight into me & my life, that's what the social media is for! :) But as for my blog, my goal is to keep is as simple as possible, and only give you what you need: so, the bare minimum of pictures, the bare minimum of text, and sole focus on the subject. I hope you like it!

Next item of business:

Follow

You can see my recipes & food inspirations on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, Yummly, Foodgawker, & Bloglovin'. Let me know which one you prefer!

Also, I just wanted to tell you all about a site I just discovered: Yummly! (This is my publisher page on Yummly).

I've been looking for a place to store all of my favorite recipes and the recipes I created, and it's a great site to keep everything in the same place! So if you're looking for a site where you can organize my recipes, and add collections of other recipes, I'd check this site out!

(By the way, I am not getting paid to post this, I'd just thought I'd share a new discovery)

Let me know what you think!

I will update this page when I add more social media accounts (it's hard to keep up these days!)
